Leyton Orient’s winning run is now just an unbeaten run after they were held to a 0-0 draw at Barnet this afternoon.

Josh Koroma came the closest in the first half, having his shot saved by Mark Cousins, while the O’s were denied a penalty in the latter stages and also had a late Josh Coulson goal ruled out for offside.

Justin Edinburgh was forced into one change for the short trip across London with Alex Lawless slotting in at right-wingback in place of Jamie Turley, who limped off against AFC Fylde in the week.

Barnet’s Dave Tarpey had the first chances of the game, forcing two good saves from Dean Brill, before the keeper was then alert again to deny Wes Fonguck in a one-on-one position after the forward had sprung the offside trap.

Koroma then had his opportunity to give Orient the lead when he turned his marker with his first touch, but the eventual shot was too easy for Cousins.

The O’s came forward again shortly after and won a corner, from which Coulson’s header was cleared off the line by the retreating Dan Sweeney.

Barnet were enjoying the lion’s share of possession, but it was the away side who were creating most of the chances – this time, Lawless’ cross was found the run of Joe Widdowson at the back post, but the defender’s header fell narrowly wide of the post.

Edinburgh was made to make one change at the break, with Charlie Lee making his return in place of the injured Jobi McAnuff, and ten minutes later Jay Simpson also marked his return, coming on for Koroma.

Lee almost made an instant impact when his long throw was flicked on by Coulson into Simpson’s path, but he was denied by Sweeney’s challenge as he swung to shoot.

Seconds later, James Brophy advanced forward positively but curled his shot over the bar.

The Bees then responded when substitute Medy Elito raced through with just Brill to beat, but the keeper made himself big and forced the forward to fire wide.

Going into stoppage time, the O’s had a huge shout for a penalty when James Dayton was upended in the box, but referee Sam Dayton awarded the foul the other way and awarded Dayton with a yellow card.

The final chance also fell for the O’s, but they were forced to settle for a point when Coulson’s header from Dan Happe’s flick-on was ruled out for offside.

The draw keeps Orient top of the National League ahead of Salford City by a point with two games in hand ahead of their visit to Bromley this Tuesday.
