Ross Embleton has praised all three of his goalkeepers for their performances throughout the pre-season campaign.

The duties have mostly been shared between Sam Sargeant and Arthur Janata, but last season’s first choice Dean Brill made his return from injury in the 2-1 win against Norwich City XI.

While Brill received plaudits for the way he has conducted himself through his injury, the boss also made sure to pay credit to Sargeant and Janata for the parts they played in making sure Orient remained unbeaten in pre-season.

He said: “Like we said for the people that were at Bishops Stortford the other night, the plan at the time was to try and give Dean some minutes on Tuesday but we then decided with the physio department that the priority was probably to give him a couple of days of training to make sure that he was capable and a little bit closer to that match fitness in order to come through today strong rather than chasing it.

“I think it’s worked out quite well and talking to him after the game it’s been a good hour for him to get out there today.

“I think the flip side of where Dean Brill has come through pre-season is the fact that Sam Sargeant and Arthur have done so well and I felt it was really important that Sam got his opportunity to play today because it was perceived as our biggest pre-season friendly, so to give Sam that opportunity to impose himself on the group was important.”
