HAVING capped his first league start of the season with a rare headed goal, Orient striker Jabo Ibehre is hoping for more success.

The 24-year-old forward is one of only seven players remaining from the 2006 League Two promotion-winning squad.

And while Martin Ling's table toppers aren't getting carried away he believes they have the ability to deliver Championship football at the end of the season.

Following the 3-1 win over Port Vale, Ibehre said: "Personally it couldn't have gone any better, because to get out there and make my first start and get a goal as well was a great feeling.

"I've been out injured for a long while and it has been frustrating, because I just wanted to be part of what has been going on this season.

"The most important thing though was for us to put on a performance like that as a team and it showed a lot of character to comeback from 1-0 down.

"We were really pleased to go back top, and while we aren't getting carried away it is great to be there at this stage of the season. There is strong competition for places right throughout the team and we do have the confidence that we are up there in the table on ability. Yes there is still a long way to go and some tough places to go yet, but it is in our hands now to build on this great start to the season. It was a fantastic feeling to be part of the promotion success a couple of years ago and it would be great if we could do that again."
