Ross Embleton wants to put the postponed Forest Green Rovers match to one side and focus on Leyton Orient's upcoming fixtures.

The O’s were due to make the trip to Nailsworth on Saturday, but the tie was put into doubt the day before when Rovers announced that there would be a pitch inspection, and the game eventually succumbed to the weather early on Saturday morning.

Embleton feels, though, that it may benefit his side in the long run.

He said: “If you take the distance into consideration, it’s not far enough far enough for us to go overnight and have the club put us in a hotel, so we travel on the day. The boys were probably up at quarter-to-eight, half seven in the morning, dependent on where they live, so it’s an early start and a bit of distance to travel.

“As opposed to a Tuesday night, [where the game is likely to be moved to] the actual circumstances are probably a little bit better. We’ll probably leave just after midday so the rush in the morning isn’t quite as drastic, so in actual fact the individual preparation is probably not quite as bad.

“I think what happens now is that you just put that game to one side. Until someone tells me it’s rearranged and we’re playing them again, I’ll wonder which cycle of games that’s fitting in to.

“I try to look at four or five game cycles where we’re looking at who we’re coming up against and all the things that go towards it, like the travelling and when we’re at home, that will fit in somewhere along the line. I try not to worry myself too much about it because the circumstances can change so much.”

Although they may not have appeared on the pitch, it certainly was not a day off for the O’s squad after a tough session in the gym on Saturday morning devised by fitness coach Mike Cooper.

Embleton felt the session was necessary so that the players did not have too many “soft” days joined together and he was happy with how it went.

He said: “With no game on Tuesday and Sunday off, they would have had three soft days in a row. We were keen that that wasn’t the case and we felt we really wanted to try and create some competition, create some real intense work and what Mike Cooper, the fitness coach, put together was brilliant.

“Ultimately, the boys have to go out and deliver it and they threw everything at it and the session that they did was brutal but physical. They put every ounce into it, it creates a real camaraderie and it turned out to be a great morning’s work in terms of what we managed to get into them. It panned out really well in the end.”
