Waltham Abbey continued to realign their play-off hopes in the Bostik League South Central Division with a 2-1 away win at lowly FC Romania.

Cosmin Miron’s goal meant Abbey went into the break a goal behind, but Christi Iacob’s own goal and Nathan Koranteng’s strike turned the game around.

It looked as though last week’s win over Bedfont Sports would be made redundant when, after 22 minutes, Miron struck to give the home side the lead going into the break.

However, Abbey fought back and within four minutes of the restart, they forced Iacob into an own goal that levelled the scores.

The game looked to be heading for a draw that would have been disappointing for the visitors, but Nathan Koranteng popped up with the winner 12 minutes from time to leave Waltham Abbey seventh in the table with six games left to play.

The side face another away trip this weekend when they travel to Molesey, with kick-off at 3pm.
