A young table tennis player from Highams Park School took top honours at the Jack Petchey London and Essex Schools’ Table Tennis Singles Finals earlier this month.
Tiana Dennison, 17, won the round-robin Girls’ under-19 tournament 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-7) against defending champion Natalia Ianau of Hammersmith and Fulham’s London Academy.
Dennison’s father and brother are both coaches at Fusion Table Tennis Club in South London and the youngster, from Leyton, hopes to attend Nottingham University next year where she will be guaranteed top-flight table tennis competition.
Dennison said: “I can’t play at school as we have no tables, so I spend as much time as possible at Fusion. I love this game and want to play at the top one day, so I must get in the top five. I love winning and the trophies look good on the shelf too!”
