Three members of East London Runners took part in the latest Ironman triathlon event in Marrakesh, Morocco on Sunday.

Louis and Rachel Le Roux completed a relay of the Ironman 70.3 (half the distance of a regular Ironman race) together, while Michael Bamford went all the way through on his own.

Louis did the swimming and cycling parts of the event, completing the 1.2 mile swim in 43.43 and the 56 mile bike ride in 3:15.34. Rachel then completed the half marathon at the end of the event in a time of 2:22.54, giving an overall time of 6:32.56 and finishing 10th out of 17.

Bamford, meanwhile, completed his swim in 58.44, cycled the 56 miles in 3:30.16 and ran the final stretch of the race in 2:23.09, giving an overall time of 7:03.59, which sealed 1370th place out of 1754 finishers.

Elsewhere, Tom Woods completed the Chinag Mai event of the Supersports 10m Series in Thailand in a time of 1:27.19, which was enough to secure 123rd place.

Two events at Beachy Head in Eastbourne on Saturday saw plenty of ELR representation as five members completed the marathon and a further eight took part in the 10km race.

Patrick Brown topped the ELR ranks in the marathon with a time of 3:32.41, and he was followed by James Nichols who recorded a time of 3:57.59.

Jacob Stevens finished in 4:11.39 and finally Alexandra Rutishauser-Perera and Sophie Edwards claimed times of 5:40.13 and 5:49.28 respectively.

In the 10km event, Euan Brown was first overall in a time of 36.42 and Thomas Grimes was second overall less than a minute behind in 37.16.

Stephen Swan recorded a time of 50.46 and he was closely followed by Helen McGuinness in 1:03.47 and Stuart Barton just a second later.

Arthur Diaz followed in 1:06.25 before Sonia Cheadle and Joanna Wood recorded an identical time of 1:19.51.
