History will be made at Epping Upper Clapton Rugby Club this Sunday at the first Ladies’ match in the club’s 150-year history will take place.
The side will play against Fullerians in a friendly before joining a competitive league structure from next September.
Two sections of the club, Womens’ and Girls’, came together after three youngsters were no longer eligible to play mixed rugby in accordance with RFU regulations.
Since then, the Ladies’ section has expanded rapidly with over 25 women from Epping training together since June with a view to start playing matches.
The Girls’ section is also growing slowly, with around eight members currently training together.
