East London Boxing Academy’s Hasnan Ali beat the Welsh and western England champion Brooklyn Chambers on Saturday in Bristol.

Chambers was last year’s National Youth finalist and the reigning Welsh and Western counties champion at the Under 19 super heavyweight category.

However, Ali rose to the occasion and put on an impressive display of skilful boxing to win every round and ultimately the bout unanimously on all five judges’ scorecards.

The win means Ali has now secured his place in the final of the National Boys and Girls championships, his second national final in 10 months, and his first in the super heavyweight division.

The final will be held on Sunday, December 1 at the Cresta Court hotel in Altrincham.

Whatever the result next week, Ali is now expecting an England call up following his dominant performances in the championships so far.

The 17-year-old has performed well at Under 19 level and still has another year to establish his credentials, having settled into his new weight class and shown he is able to perform.
