First-half goals from Vinny Murphy, Dwade James and Callum helped Walthamstow extend their unbeaten run in the Essex Senior League Senior Division to nine games with a 3-0 win away at Takeley.

Murphy’s cross floated in after six minutes to hand Stow the lead before James slotted home the second and Ibe coolly made it three before the break.

The visitors made a fast start to the game and deserved to go ahead early on, although the circumstances in which they did were fortuitous as Murphy’s cross went over everybody in the box and bounced in off the far post.

Takeley rarely had possession of the ball but created some good chances when they had it, but the best was spurned by Ollie Miles when he headed wide from a good position.

Ibe then missed a good chance for Stow by headed over at the far post, but they bagged their second of the afternoon shortly after when James was sent through to finish well past Ronald Yates.

Walthamstow put themselves out of sight before the break as some excellent build-up play resulted in Ibe being left one-v-one with Yates, and he rounded the keeper before tapping into an empty net.

The visitors played into the wind in the second half, making it more difficult to string some cohesive passages together.

Takeley looked to take advantage of that, but Michael Toner cleared an effort off the line to preserve Stow’s clean sheet.

Stow were also in action on Tuesday night as they travelled to Hendon for a friendly, losing 6-5.

Samrai Gebrai scored four while Michael Toner notched the other.

Ilford are now unbeaten in three games after they secured a 1-0 win at home to Woodford Town.

A late goal proved to be the difference as Chris Cordara-Soanes beat the offside trap and fired past the keeper to grab their second successive win.

Ilford were also in action last night at they travelled to third-placed Hashtag United, while Woodford made the trip to Clapton.

Redbridge failed to make it three wins in a row on Saturday as Thomas Cowell scored the only goal in a 1-0 loss to Hoddesdon Town.

Cowell notched with 20 minutes played to help his side move three points clear of Redbridge in the table.

West Essex went a month without a win after Tuesday's 6-2 loss to Hadley.

Goals from Cameron Gray and Izzy Ogedi-Uzokwe made it 2-2 at the break, but four unanswered second-half goals saw Hadley run away with the points.

Waltham Abbey were dealt a blow in their play-off pursuit in the Isthmian League South Central Division after a 6-1 hammering by Hanwell Town.

A brace from Ogo Obi put Hanwell in control at the break before Gianni Crichlow and Joel Jacobs netted in the second half.

Obi then completed his hat-trick and Rob Laney added a sixth.

Billy Holland pulled one back for Abbey in stoppage time but it did little to soften the blow.

Finally, Epping Town dropped to seventh in Division Two of the Essex Olympian League following a 3-1 home defeat to fourth-placed Corinthians, with Jake Hodder, Leo Clarke and Ollie Brickwood on target for the visitors.
