WOOLSTON Manor’s Freddie Moncur won the Brian Fuller Trophy at Crowlands Heath Golf club during the boys Under-12 championship.

Moncur, who scored 42 Stableford points off a handicap of 24 won the trophy on count back over Gosfield Lake’s Kieran Whiting.

In the main competition Abridge’s Mark Brenner came fourth with a score of 83, one shot ahead of moncur in fifth.

North Weald’s Reece Francis and Nazing’s Tom Kisby helped the Essex Under-14 boys retain the Anglian Shiled against their Suffolk counterparts.

In a disastrous morning foursomes, Francis and Kisby managed to halve their match as the hosts took a two point lead into the sigles matches.

Francis won his singles match three and two, while Kisby’s four and three victory, eventually helped the county to a 9-6 victory.

MEANWHILE, Michael Everitt won the Centenary Salver and scratch prize at Woodford Golf Club at the weekend after a superb round of 70.

The five handicapper went round the course level par, giving him enough to win the scratch competition as well as the handicap prize, one shot ahead of Kevin Sullivan and competition secretary Sean Marah, who was a further stroke back.
