JUANDE Ramos failed with a dramatic deadline day swoop for Real Betis new boy Sergio Garcia.
According to Garcia's former Real Zaragoza team-mate at Ricardo Oliviera, The Spanish star decided it was better for him to remain in his homeland rather than enjoy the Londoners.
Garcia was unveiled at The Estadio Manuel Ruiz de Lopera after rejecting the chance to join Spurs and and their new look strike force at White Hart Lane on the last day of the transfer window.
''I knew he had other options, Tottenham was one of them,'' Oliviera told ABC.
''I told him if he received an offer from Betis he should forgot about the other offers. This is because he wanted to remain in Spain and the chance to play for Betis was too good to turn down.''
Betis chairman Jose Leon added: ''Sergio Garcia made it clear he wanted to join us.''
