West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed Apollon Limassol defender Doneil Henry will join the Hammers, subject to tribunal.
The 21-year-old was recommended to Allardyce by former Toronto FC head coach Ryan Nelsen, who was captain at Blackburn Rovers under the Hammers boss.
Henry, who is a full Canadian international, turned professional with Toronto after progressing through the club's academy and joined Cypriot side Limassol in October this year before returning to Toronto on loan.
Speaking on Goals on Sunday, Allardyce confirmed the news: "We are looking at the situation but it will be a tribunal, work permit situation which will happen next week.
βHe was recommended to me by Ryan Nelsen, my captain at Blackburn who was at Toronto and his is an opinion I respect.β
The 6ft 2in defender has made 93 appearances for Toronto since making his first-team debut in 2010 and has won 12 full caps for Canada.
