Watford are reportedly rivalling West Ham United for the signing of RB Leipzig midfielder Diego Demme.

The German outfit are believed to value the 26-year-old at £15 million – a fee which both Watford and the Hammers are said to be considering matching.

Demme made his Germany debut last year and has been central to Leipzig’s form this season having played 12 times across all competitions this term.

Having joined Leipzig from SC Paderborn in 2014, Demme has gone on to make 76 Bundesliga outings for the club – scoring one goal in the process.

The diminutive midfielder largely operates in a defensive role but can play in a number of positions across midfield.

He would add further competition in a congested midfield area for Watford who already have Abdoulaye Doucoure, Etienne Capoue, Nathaniel Chalobah and Ben Wilmot who can play in deep-lying central roles.

Doucoure has recently been linked with a transfer to PSG and Watford would likely look to bolster their ranks should such a move take place.
