West Ham United will travel to League Two side Newport County in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The Hammers, who reached round four last season after wins against AFC Wimbledon and Macclesfield Tow, will play the Exiles for just the fourth time in history.

All three previous meetings came before Newport’s reformation in 1989.

This will be the first match in this competition for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season while Newport were 4-1 victors on penalties against Gillingham after an initial 2-2 draw.

The tie will be played on the week beginning August 26.
