Travellers are to be evicted from a site opposite Walthamstow Stadium today.

At least 10 caravans and numerous vehicles arrived at the Chingford Road site on Saturday morning.

Travellers had been living at the site, formerly the stadium’s car park, for around a week in September before before they were moved on.

It is not clear if it is the same group.

A council spokesman said the authority had been in touch with the land owners and encouraged them to move the travellers on.

The spokesman confirmed that bailiffs were sent in a short while ago to remove the travellers.

Housing association London and Quadrant (L&Q) is building a housing estate on the Walthamstow Stadium site, while a bus depot is planned for the car park.
