A LEYTONSTONE church is calling for volunteers to help run its cafe.
St Andrew's Church, in Colworth Road, opened Cafe Refresh over the summer as a way to draw the community into the church.
But the cafe had to close after its chef left and reopened last month after church member Tricia Jones, 61, who used to work in catering, as well as other volunteers, stepped in.
Ms Jones said: “We're really trying to build up. It's all home-cooked meals, like freshly made soups and hot dishes.
“It's open to everybody. It came from a vision we had about four years ago about where St Andrew's is going.”
After some fund raising, the cafe was able to open and is now hoping to be able to stay open on a more long-term basis.
Cafe Refresh is open from Tuesday to Friday from 12pm to 3pm for lunch and on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm for an all day breakfast.
