WHILE I was delighted to have got my first goal for the club at Walsall I’m certainly under a bit of pressure now!
The gaffer picked up on the interview I gave to The Sun on Saturday and he is hoping that my goals will be like buses and come in two’s.
All I know is I wish The Sun would speak to me every week if it meant I could keep scoring!
Seriously it was a big delight to finally get off the mark. I know people have said how well Boydy did in the lead up to it, but I think he kept turning one way and then the other because he saw it was me waiting and attempted to turn back.
Fortunately the defender touched it into my path and I was able to stick it away.
It was nice to get a text off my brother, John, after the game, although I was soon telling him that I’m 1-0 up in our scoring bet. I've also been giving young Jason a bit of stick, because he is the only midfielder yet to score this season.
The main thing was that we won and it has put us right back in the mix in the table. The lads played really well at the back and both Brian and Alton did brilliantly to keep them quiet. I thought they really played Jabo well and it is encouraging to have gone three league games without conceding a goal. That sets us up nicely for Stockport on Saturday and hopefully we can keep this four match unbeaten run going now.
Finally it was nice when us southerners were able to get revenge on the northern boys in the annual cricket.
If I do say so myself I was one of our main scorers until the gaffer decided to run me out, having forgotton that I’m probably even slower than him!
