Loughton 6
Thames 22
(Essex Two)
LOUGHTON slipped to a disappointing home defeat against Thames.
Following an end to end opening for the first 15 minutes, Owen Sayers gave the Hornbeam Road men the lead with a penalty in front of the posts after the visitors had been penalised for offside.
Thames kicked off and immediately set about reducing the deficit, when Alex Brooks fed Dan Fox to go in from ten yards.
On 21 minutes Loughton were again awarded a penalty in front of the posts and Sayers once more stretched the lead to 6-5, which is how it remained until half-time.
From the re-start, Thames came out much stronger and after 15 minutes they were back in front following a try from Kenny Sams.
The same player started to put the game out of Loughton's reach with his second try of the half ten minutes later.
Ben Butler then ran in try under the posts for the visitors which was converted by Luke Crowhurst, to give Thames a somewhat flattering scoreline.
