West Ham United will look to overturn their recent poor form against a Hull City team sitting two places above them in the Premier League tonight.

The Hammers have lost their previous three matches, and another defeat could see them edge ever closer to the relegation zone.

In the corresponding fixture earlier this season, Hull recorded a 1-0 victory over West Ham, after Robbie Brady converted a controversially given penalty. But Hull City do not have a strong record at Upton Park and haven’t won there since 1990, in the old Division Two.

Sam Allardyce has said that he feels the club need seven more points to ensure their safety this season, whilst one more win from Hull will reach Steve Bruce’s pre-season target of ten wins from the campaign.

"I think 38 points will be needed this year," said Allardyce. "It's such a big game on Wednesday now. Following that we play Sunderland away on Monday night, so we're either going to be very nervous by next Tuesday, or we're going to feel a little bit safer."

"I've never in my long career experienced the ups and downs that we've experienced this season."

In injury news, Matt Jarvis looks set to return for West Ham, following the thigh injury he sustained at Manchester United. He could be joined by James Tomkins, who picked up an injury in the same game.

For Hull, Steve Bruce is confident that Shane Long will be available to join Nikica Jelavic up front, whilst defender Curtis Davies could also feature.

Both sides will climb to 11th if they win tonight, and victory could extend the gap between West Ham and relegation to nine points.
