West Ham United are set to challenge Crystal Palace for the signature of Paris St. Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye, it is being reported.

The Hammers made their first summer signing in the shape of Pedro Obiang yesterday, but want to add ex-Newcastle United man Cabaye to their ranks, claim the Daily Mail.

The Frenchman was linked with a move to Selhurst Park earlier this week after admitting he would consider again linking up with Alan Pardew, the manager who brought him to England.

But new United boss Slaven Bilic wants to further strengthen his squad in preparation for a Europa League campaign next term.

Cabaye has struggled to hold down a first team place in France with PSG and has made just 22 starts for the European giants since his move 18 months ago.

He moved to the Parc de Princes in a £23 million deal in January 2014 and PSG may want to recoup as much of that transfer fee as possible.
