West Ham badly need to return winning ways this weekend when they face Barnsley at Upton Park.

Sam Allardyce's side's promotion hopes were hit by consecutive defeats to Burnley and Reading in the last fortnight.

But the Irons remain second in the table despite their recent problems. Allardyce may be able to call on Henri Lansbury who is nearing a return to fitness.

Barnsley have been on a good run recently but this was halted after an eventful 5-3 home defeat to Ispwich Town last week. Prior to that, Keith Hill's side had won their previous four matches.

The Hammers need to halt their slide quickly and I would expect them to end their losing run. West Ham should prevail and I'm going for a 2-1 home win to take into the festive period.
