Professionals made way for amateurs at the April meeting of the Ongar Flower Club, after organisers decided to get the members themselves on stage.
Those who braved the platform were guided through the process of making a corsage, while members were entertained with a couple of flower-themed quizzes.
Spokeswoman, Jennifer Stone, said: “Everyone agreed we had all enjoyed getting to know each other, as well as having fun with flowers, and we would repeat the evening later in the year.”
Fiona Franklin will be the demonstrator at the next meeting, on May 7, when the theme will be ‘Calendar Girls’.
