Plans for a new Costa Coffee café in a shopping district have been approved.

The bid for the outlet at 688 Chigwell Road in Woodford Bridge was rubber stamped by Redbridge councillors last week.

The site is currently empty but previously housed an electrical goods store.

The application sought permission to change the use of the building from retail use to a coffee shop.

A new frontage will also be installed with seating outside the café.

Costa says the new business will create two full-time jobs and eight part-time positions.

It comes just weeks after Costa Coffee announced they would be opening a new branch in Wanstead High Street.

The chain has also recently opened an outlet in George Lane, South Woodford.
