Old romantics are being asked to share their love letters as part of a local history project.
South Woodford based company Community Healthcare Innovations (CHI) recently held an exhibition of 175 love letters found in a Hainault auction house.
The letters sent by Meg Smith to her fiancé Charles Jones in the 1930s were displayed at CHI’s offices in Eastwood Close.
CHI secured £10,000 of Heritage Lottery funding to transcribe the letters and put on the exhibition.
Now Stephanie O’Leary, who runs CHI, says she wants to expand her research.
She said: “Part of the project is to collect a selection of older people's love letters and collate them as part of local history.
“If anyone has any love letters that they would be prepared to share, please contact me. We will scan and type them and return them to you.
“If you are part of an older persons group, we would like to come along and collect some of your memories.”
Mrs O’Leary says that she is planning to run free workshops as part of the project to help people trace their family trees.
