A mother has appeared in court charged with murdering her eight-year-old daughter in Chadwell Heath.
Paramedics were called to a flat in Broomfield Road on Thursday morning.
The girl was later pronounced dead.
Polly Chowdhury, 34, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates' Court.
She was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
Ms Chowdhury was arrested on suspicion of murder after being discharged.
The girl's death is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police's homicide and major crime command.
