A flat on the 10th floor of a block in Woodford Green has been destroyed by fire.
Two adjacent flats in the block, in Liston Way, were also damanged by the blaze.
Two people - a man and a woman - suffered smoke inhalation and the man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.
Twelve fire engines and 81 firefighters and officers attended the scene from Woodford, Walthamstow, Dagenham, Plaistow, Leyton, Leytonstone, Edmonton, Enfield, and Tottenham fire stations.
The Brigade was called shortly before 11am and the fire was declared under control at 12.58pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
