A financial analyst will attempt to trek up the world’s highest mountain to help children with cancer and their families.

Arouna Rughooputh, 35, of The Ridgeway in Chingford, has been in training for months to prepare for the 15-day trek to base camp at Mount Everest.

The expedition, organised by her employer Santander, will see 26 colleagues walk the 5,400 metres to the camp in temperatures as low as -10.

Miss Rughooputh said she is “excited and nervous” about the trip, which starts on 7th October.

“I know it’s going to be tough work so I’ve been in putting some hard hours training for it but it’s for a really good cause, so the blood, sweat and tears will be well worth it,” she added.

Miss Rughooputh’s family have helped her to reach her fundraising target of £2,000.

Miss Rughooputh added: “I think it’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime achievement.

“Once I’ve completed it, I think it’s going to feel amazing.”
