Thousands of visitors are expected to visit a protected green space for a taste of the countryside.

The annual Countryside Live event at Leyton Marsh is now in its fourth year and regularly attracts around 6,000 visitors.

Children, who may have never been to the countryside before, can enjoy watching falconry, sheep shearing and ferret racing displays.

They can also try their hand at traditional crafts such as willow weaving, corndolly making, wood turning and bird-box making.

Lee Valley Regional Park Senior Conservation Officer, Cath Patrick, is also hoping the chance of seeing traditional farm animals will help children to understand where food comes from.

She said: “We hope that Countryside Live will be the start of their exploration of the Lee Valley and awareness of the great outdoors, hopefully inspiring them to leave the computer games at home.”

The event will take place at Leyton Marsh on the weekend of September 28 and 29, from 10am-5pm.

An adult single day pass is £4 and children go free.
