A young man with extremely hairy legs is bravely having them waxed tomorrow to raise money for a local charity.

Aaron Wingrove, 20, of Withy Mead in Chingford Hatch, made the decision after talking to long-term mentor Dean Ibrahim, who runs the KNI Foundation, about how Aaron could give something back to a charity that has helped him so much over the years.

Mr Wingrove, a student dancer, who has always been teased for his “ridiculously hairy legs,” is now getting nervous about his trip to Flicks Hair and Beauty in The Broadway, Highams Park, tomorrow at 12.00pm, where friends and family can pay £5 each to remove a wax strip.

“I’m scared. I’m genuinely scared for my safety,” said Mr Wingrove.

Mr Wingrove, who has been involved with KNI, a charity working with young people and bereaved familiies, since he was 12, is glad to be “giving something back” to Mr Ibrahim.

He said: “There was a point not too long ago when I had a breakdown and I was giving up on stuff.

“Then I rang Dean and he gave me a pep talk.

“He’s always there for advice and puts me back on the right track.”

Mr Wingrove has raised £100 so far for KNI’s ‘Kenny’s Place’ project, supporting families experiencing bereavement.

Dean Ibrahim, CEO of the KNI Foundation, said: “I think Aaron is very brave to wax all the hair off of his legs, especially considering I’ve seen him in shorts and can honestly say that his legs are hairier than most!

"Every challenge that people like Aaron take part in for KNI allows us to continue our important work with bereaved families in Waltham Forest so Aaron is doing a truly great thing by raising sponsorship for his waxing, and we appreciate his fundraising efforts.”
