CORONATION Street star Bradley Walsh helped switch on the Christmas lights in Abridge on Sunday.
Mr Walsh, who leaves the soap as Danny Baldwin at Christmas, led the countdown to the switch-on, which was performed by Lambourne Primary pupil Megan Lions, five.
The ceremony, which attracted the biggest crowd ever, included a brass band and carol singing. Mince pies were given out.
There was also a visit from Father Christmas, who arrived in a horse-drawn carriage amid a fake snow shower.
New restaurant Hartley's served hot chocolate and donated all profits to the Abridge Lighting Committee's collection fund.
Money for the lights was raised through donations and a quiz night. Committee members also collected £260 from the crowd and thanked everyone for their generosity.
