All train services on the Greater Anglia network have been cancelled between midnight and 10am on Christmas Eve.
The network, which includes the Chingford to Liverpool Street line, will be shut down so that lines can be tested and cleared of any damage or obstruction caused by high winds forecast later today.
The operator is lifting time restrictions on tickets.
A Greater Anglia statement said: “Customers with tickets dated for travel on Tuesday December 24 can use them to travel on Monday 23 December and we have suspended all ticket restrictions including all Advanced Purchase ticket restrictions."
Some restrictions to services to services are in place.
