Police have confirmed they are investigating an alleged assault at a school where a girl is believed to have sustained facial injuries.
The incident is said to have taken place inside a classroom at Heathcote School and Science College in Normanton Park, Chingford on Wednesday.
A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to the school at 2:45pm following reports of a fight between two pupils.
"During this incident one pupil sustained cuts and bruising to the face. Officers conveyed the child to a local hospital where injuries were deemed non-life threatening/life changing.
"A 15 year- old boy will be interviewed by appointment in connection with this incident later this week.
"Waltham Forest Police are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made."
The 14 year-old girl was taken to Whipps Cross hospital and discharged later that night.
Headteacher Zoe Cozens said the school was "unable to comment on this issue at this time given the involvement of the police".
She added: "The school can, however, confirm that it takes matters of this nature very seriously and that parents of those involved have been contacted."
