A man has been jailed for causing death by dangerous driving after leaving his friend for dead in Chingford following an earlier collision with a lorry.
Saulius Kipraitis, 32, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court, to four-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.
In June last year, Kipraitis drove his car at speed after a party with Elvadas Kacerauskas, 30, as passenger.
Kipraitis lost control of the vehicle on a roundabout in Mollision Avenue, Enfield, and collided with an oncoming lorry.
He then drove the damaged Mazda two miles to Kings Head Hill in Chingford before stopping and abandoning the car with his injured friend still inside.
Elvadas Kacerauskas was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries the following day.
