A former Walthamstow college graduate has signed a music deal with London Records, part of Universal Music.
Jermain Jackman, 19, of Hackney, completed his studies last year at Sir George Monoux College in Chingford Road, Walthamstow, to go on and become this year's winner of the BBC's The Voice.
The Labour party youth coordinator with dreams of combining his musical talents to become the UK's first black prime minister, announced the signing today.
He said: "I’m really excited to be a part of Universal Music and London Records and I’m ready to make some great music."
Mr Jackman plans to release his debut album, containing all original tracks, later this year.
