A Brownie group which has been in existence for 69 years will disappear unless it can find a new leader.
The 7th Wanstead Brownies has been meeting since 1945, but it may be forced to close down if no one comes forward to take up the mantel from September.
Iris Andrews, who lives in Manor Park, ran the group for 28 years between 1975 and 2003, and still helps out in her capacity as Wise Owl.
The 90-year-old said: “If we don’t find anyone to lead then the group will have to close down, I am too old to put too much time into it.
“Mothers have been running the group and they have done a great job but we now need a committed person to come in and run it."
