Parents have spoken out against a proposed primary school merger over fears their children’s education will suffer.
Dozens of parents gathered at Dawlish Primary School in Jesse Road, Leyton on Tuesday, to discuss a possible merger with Newport Primary School in nearby Newport Road.
Newport headteacher Prue Barnes has also overseen operations at Dawlish since the Jesse Road school's previous headteacher left in November last year.
And the council is now proposing a merger, which would see Ms Barnes continue as head of both schools, following what it sees as the success of the move so far.
However, many parents have claimed they are unhappy with the proposals and say they are not being listened to by the school.
The council has been approached for a comment.
