A girls’ cricket project has won a national award.
Redbridge Rangers, based at Woodbridge High School, in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green, was recognised at a StreetChance event at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday.
StreetChance is an initiative run by the Cricket Foundation which uses cricket to engage young people from a range of backgrounds in areas affected by youth crime and anti-social behaviour.
Leader of the project, Hannah Newman, said: “It’s amazing to know that the hard work has paid off.
"I never thought when I came to the StreetChance awards a year ago, and was inspired by the winners that day, that I’d be back picking up an award a year later.
"It’s absolutely incredible and is a great feeling, StreetChance has helped me massively and coaching has really helped my confidence."
