The Chigwell Choir was initially formed in 1952 by 15 singers led by John Auton, the director of music at Chigwell School in the High Road.
Over 50 years later, the amateur choir has expanded to include around 35 singers, drawn from Epping, Loughton, Woodford and surrounding areas to perform works by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Benjamin Britten.
Last year they performed in Vienna, Austria a city where Mozart composed his greatest symphonies.
New conductor Alexander Campkin has modernised their repertoire to include more pieces by living composers and they will collaborate with Theydon Bois Primary School at a Great War commemoration on November 15 at Chigwell School.
The choir are always seeking more members with more information on joining here.
