A suspected member of a gang which is believed to have targeted vulnerable people in a phone scam has been arrested in Waltham Forest.
The person is among ten held yesterday after police swooped on 17 addresses across London, including one in Waltham Forest.
The group are suspected of being involved in a scam which sees elderly people contacted by phone by someone posing as a police officer, who claims the security of the victim's bank account has been compromised.
Victims are then persuaded to transfer funds to an account controlled by the gang.
Those attested are suspected of targeting people living in the south west of England.
However, the scam is common across the country, with many people targeted in east London and Essex.
The Metropolitan Police have published The Little Book of Scams to warn people about the dangers.
