A woman has died after being hit by a Transit van yesterday.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene outside the Chapelfield Nursery in Sewardstone Road, on the border between Chingford and Waltham Abbey, just before 5.30pm following reports of 46-year-old pedestrian involved in a collision with a white Ford Transit van.
The woman, who lives in the local area, was fatally injured as a result of the crash.
Ambulance crews attended the scene but she died at the North Middlesex Hospital.
A 35-year-old man from Waltham Cross was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and other driving offences.
He has been bailed pending further enquiries and will report back to police on March 2.
