Twenty head teachers from Shenzhen in China have been touring schools in Waltham Forest.
The Waltham Forest Teaching School Alliance, a group of five schools in the borough, has started a leadership partnership to support visits from foreign headteachers.
Roger Ascham Primary School and Winns Primary School were among those shown to the Chinese guests and St Josephs Junior School Leyton.
Secondary school Walthamstow School for Girls was also included in the tour.
The teachers said they enjoyed the chance to see the British education system at work.
