Details on how £100,000 will be spent on school youth projects were announced last night.
Redbridge council’s cabinet agreed to fund a range of measures including workshops on safety, more information about mental health issues, careers conferences and dedicated web pages, at Redbridge town hall, in Ilford.
The cabinet had agreed to allocate £100,000 to youth projects in January.
Redbridge Drama Centre, based in Churchfields, Woodford Green, has been commissioned to produce a drama tour on mental health issues to take place in Redbridge secondary schools between February and March in 2015.
After the 60 performances in schools across the borough, pupils will receive a leaflet on mental health wellbeing.
Also a total of eight full-day workshops, led by the police, will take place in secondary schools between January and March next year.
Finally, a dedicated section of the council website will be used for youth-related information and advice, and a careers conference will be held today at Redbridge College from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
