An urgent appeal has been launched to find an elderly dementia sufferer.
William Mallandain, 85, went missing from his Chingford home between 11.30am and 5.30pm yesterday.
Police believe he travelled in his blue Ford Focus to the nearby Premier Inn hotel in Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey, where he spent the night.
He checked out this morning and has not been seen since.
Mr Mallandain is usually well-dressed and could be wearing a shirt with trousers.
Officers are concerned for his welfare as it is out of character for him to go missing for this length of time.
Anyone who has seen Mr. Mallandain or who knows of his whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 quoting the reference number 14MIS0453305.
