Green fingered residents are being given the chance to grow their own groceries as the council holds its second ever Urban Food Growing Festival.
While in Waltham Forest it would be difficult to be entirely self-sufficient – the local authority wants to get families thinking about how they can cultivate land available to them.
The festival will return to the borough next month with compost giveaways, workshops and demonstrations over nine days.
Planned highlights for this year’s programme will include a Gardeners’ Question and Answer session, The Big Compost Giveaway, a school’s challenge, walks and cycle tours, The Big Dig run, a festival pop-up shop with workshops and activities, and a number of workshops, demonstrations and events.
A programme of food tastings, cooking sessions, presentations, workshops and activities will be hosted throughout the festival between March 20 and 29.
