February was an exciting month at the Chingford Photographic Society, we had three competitions and a very interesting speaker, Bob Johnson, showcasing his work titled “Solo in Tanzania”.
The first competition was internal and displayed on a projector, where members entered up to five images and an external judge reviewed them with feedback on how to make the image stronger.
This was won by Graham Wheeler with yours truly sneaking a second place.
Our second competition was against our neighbours, Walthamstow Photographic Society.
At our previous club battle and my first as chairman we lost to Walthamstow so I was especially looking for a win, however we were beaten again by just 1.5 points.
The third competition was for the Basildon Trophy, this is a four-club battle with each entering 12 black and white printed images. The scores were Walthamstow 208, Enfield 210, Loughton 220 and, drumroll please, Chingford 224, with five of our 12 prints scoring the maximum 20 points.
