An owner of a nursery has been inspired by one of the children she looks after to raise money in a 10K obstacle course inspired by Total Wipeout and Takeshi's Castle.

Hannah Ince, of Elmhurst Drive, South Woodford, will undertake the Rough Runner challenge next Saturday in Great Tew, Oxfordshire.

The 36-year-old, who has for over five years owned Incey Winceys Nursery, in Eastwood Close, is raising money for Williams Syndrome Foundation.

The genetic condition, which affects one in 10,000 people worldwide, causes medical complications including cardiovascular disease, developmental delays, and learning disabilities.

Hannah said she was inspired by three-year-old sufferer Cathal, who she looks after at the nursery, to fundraise for the charity.

She said: “I am raising money for Williams Syndrome because before Cathal joined the nursery I had not heard of it and not many people have, so it is important to raise awareness.

“I have the pleasure of looking after him and the charity does great work supporting families with the condition.

“He is a delight and I want to raise as much money as possible for this extremely important charity.”

The run coincides with Williams Syndrome Awareness Day next Friday, which the nursery will be marking with a cake sale and fundraising day.

Hannah said she is confident of finishing the run despite the gruelling course including a plethora of obstacles including curving rope swings, steep slopes and slides, big balls, and a punching wall.

The mother-of-three said: “It is fair to say I have never done anything like this before and I am nervous about it.

“But at the same time I am quite excited and have been training as much as I can in the last few months, I feel ready.

“A couple of weeks ago I managed to run 10K around the Olympic Park so I know it can be done.”
