A frustrated gambler has been sentenced for kicking in the front door of a betting shop.
Alfie Turner, 24, of Bond Street, E15 pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
He will now serve 100 hours community service, a rehabilitation order and must pay £385 compensation.
The offence took place on March 24 when police were called to a William Hill in High Road Leytonstone.
Turner was seen kicking the entrance to the bookmakers repeatedly, resulting in the glass shattering and the door being bent out of shape.
He was later identified by police and charged on April 2.
PC Kyle Burns, from Waltham Forests’ South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said his behaviour was inexcusable.
He said: “This sends out a clear message to criminals that if we have your image then it is likely you will be caught and the appropriate action taken against you."
