Volunteers are being sought for a service that gives victims of crime the chance to come face-to-face with perpetrators.
Essex Police launched its “Restorative Justice Hub” for West Essex on March 27, giving criminals an opportunity to accept responsibility and victims the chance to explain the impact of a crime.
Restorative justice is used for less serious offences such as graffiti or anti-social behaviour and everyone involved must consent to take part.
The police are now seeking volunteers to help run the service, which is being piloted in areas including Epping Forest before extending to the rest of the county in October.
Volunteers must be over 18 and will be expected to meet with victims and offenders, as well as giving feedback on the project.
