John Cryer has announced a public meeting on the NHS after talks with Whipps Cross junior doctors on strike.

The Labour MP for Leyton and Wanstead announced the meeting on Twitter asking followers who were concerned about the NHS and government cuts to come to Wanstead Library on Friday (April 15) from 6.30pm.

Speaking at a march in Walthamstow, Dr Niki Fitzgerald said: “He was very supportive when he came to meet us.

“The Labour party have been supportive in principle but they need to turn that into extra pressure on the government to sort this situation out.

“Hopefully next week we can put some concrete plans together.

“We haven’t got a voice in parliament so it’s up to them to be our voice.

“We have a lot of gaps in our rotas at Whipps Cross and our junior doctors are performing a huge amount of extra work filling those gaps mainly on good will.

“We’re just trying to make sure that the hospital we work for and love can manage.”
